Improvements
The word "improvements" is used throughout Mansfield Park. Discuss the social significance of improvements.

Improvements usually meant of oneself...gaining more education, wealth, prestige, land, and so forth through marriage, death, etc. Also, improvements to ones grounds usually showed that a landowner had enough wealth to continue making his grounds lovelier, grander, and enviable.
