There is conflict in every facet of life...agency, thought, comfort, privacy, friendship, love, marriage, trust, honor, and all decent behaviors.
Everything is a conflict in this novel. You are not even free to think as you wish. I think that is why the people are all eventually brainwashed. When you are allowed nothing at all, you are prone to give up. I can't imagine a world without friends, family, love, affection, and the ability to learn and think and belive as I choose. I can't understand the point of creating this perfectly obedient society, while removing all of the reasons for living in the first place.
