The Spine
Why was Eragon comfortable exploring the Spine when everyone else in his village was afraid of the place? What does the Spine represent to the other inhabitants of Carvahall?

The village seems to be full of people who just kind of do what has been done forever, they all have their trades their parents did before them, their lives to go about...
Eragon is a little more adventureous.
I agree with Cheryl that Eragon was adventureous and curious, too. Perhaps the fact that everyone seemed so afraid of the Spine made him want to find out why.
