The heroine
What kind of character is our heroine—as she presents herself at the beginning of her flashback? Describe her and her companion, Mrs. Hopper.

The heroine seemed like a really unsure, unhappy girl who wasn't sure how of if she could assert herself. Myabe her circumstances caused that.
Mrs. Hopper was not a very nice person to be around which was evident in how people tried to escape her notice or just put up with her is they were around her.
I agree with your assessment. I think she was timid and not very confident.
Agreed, not very confident, didn't really believe in herself, which made her especially vulnerable when she went to Manderley.
