Trip to Frankfurt
In a certain way, Heidi's trip to Frankfurt causes many things to change for the better. What were some of the things that changed? What do you think would have happened if Heidi had not gone away?

She wouldn't have learned to read.
I don't think the Grandfather would have softened his heart to the possibility of moving off of the mountain in winter and for her to go to school.
One very obvious one is that Klara would not have come to visit them on the Alm and therefore would not have got better.
She touched the lives of Klara and the doctor in a big way...and the Grandmamma. I think the lives of the household help were touched, also. Of, course their lives changed so much for the better, including the father's life, because of Heidi and her happiness and good will. Klara would have remain an invalid, the doctor would have remained in his sorrow, and Heidi and others would have not learned to read, and the Grandmother would have not received the bed, rolls, etc.
