Tutoring
How do the tutor's methods of teaching Heidi to read differ from Grandmamma's methods? Why do you think Grandmamma was so successful?

The Grandmamma made it clear to Heidi that she could learn to read whether she thought she could or not. She made it something for Heidi to look forward to and be excited about.
She made the idea of reading fun and possible! Heidi thought she couldn't learn...and the tutor was frustrated with her...and treated her like she couldn't learn. The Grandmother told her she could and gave her the chance to be read to and to learn.
I agree with the other comments. She helped her to get excited and to believe in herself.
