The Grandmother
The Grandmother is permanently blind, yet Heidi manages to bring her light. Explain the various ways in which she does this. Why do you think Heidi and Grandmother enjoy each other's company so much?

Heidi brings her light because she is so full of joy and hope. I think she is one of the only people that stops to sit and really try to make things differently for the Grandmother. The grandmother loves the spirit that Heidi brings into their hut.
Heidi comes to visit the Grandmother and brings happiness in to their hut! She treats the Grandmother with love and respect and shows her caring for her by reading her Hymns and getting soft biscuits for her...and loving her!
I think it made a difference to the grandmother just to know that someone cared about her still. Heidi never stopped thinking about her and how to make her life more comfortable and full of joy. It is life changing for anyone when someone is excited to see them and cares about their well being. Love, I guess is the answer. Heidi loved her and that changed everything.
