Both! They just seemed to grow to love each other so much and I wanted them to be able to stay together (but now with her in Mel's body) but also it was a little creepy to think that her soul was a worm and Ian loved a worm! They would have had an interesting relationship if she didn't have a body. But he did hold her before he put her in the protective case and didn't seem digusted...he thought she was beautiful.
Both. I don't understand the physical attraction (or rather, being able to ignore the differences between their species), but while she was in a human body, it would be easier to forget those differences, and come to love her for who she is.
It felt pretty natural to me. He grew to love her as they developed a friendship and then he loved her and not the body she was in. That is what love is anyway so although it was a little strange that they are a different species- that wasn't something he thought about.
We are a group of sisters, mothers, daughters, cousins, aunts, grandmothers, and friends coming together because of our shared love of reading.
