Genocide?
Are the Souls morally culpable for what they do to so many species in
the universe? What reason do they give for taking over others' minds,
and is that justifiable -- or does it essentially amount to genocide?

Wanda seemed so at peace in the other lives she had lived and didn't seem to feel it was wrong to live as a flower or whatever but I don't think it is right to take over other life forms lives in order to save one's life...which is what the souls were doing.
It's wrong. Just because it's what the souls knew and they were comfortable with it doesn't justify it. What makes them better and more valuable than other species? Who decides that?
It is genocide. They are going into different places and killing off all the inhabitants and taking over.
The thing is that they don't see it. They don't have that understanding that what they are doing is wrong.
