Genre
Wilkie Collins has been hailed as the creator of the “sensation novel”. Citing examples from The Woman in White, how would you define this Victorian literary genre?

I think it would have been a sensation in those days because of the things that were occuring to others: (1) Abuse of a woman after marriage (2) Devious actions "under cover" to medicate a person so they wouldn't have the ability to think or act how they wanted (3) Putting a person in an asylum when they didn't need to be there under false pretenses (although that was probably done often so others could hide away someone they wanted out of the way). These and other examples were probably shocking to many because they didn't want to believe such things could happen in a proper society.
I agree. I think it would have been a 'thriller'.
