Recognition
Do you think it was significant that Mercedes recognized Edmond Dantes after seeing him and her husband didn't realize who he was even after talking to him?

Yes. She loved him so and could recognize traits and habits and his voice after so many years. Others could not recognize him because he "disguised" himself with his great riches, education, and demeanor.
Very. She loved him so much that it would have been sad if she hadn't still recognized him.
