Because many people believe that he is a good man and moral teacher but not literally the Son of God. That perhaps is a concept people can't or won't accept or understand. Also,that is the belief of the Jewish people as they believe the Messiah hasn't come yet.
I loved the points he brought up concerning this. My friends husband whom is athiest said this once and I didn't think much of it... but once C.S Lewis brought up the point of how could he be a great moral teacher if he was saying He was the Son of God and wasn't. He was either telling the truth or completely delusional.
It really is one or the other... and doesn't make sense to think otherwise.
Just because He did wonderful things and taught wonderful lessons, that doesn't excuse the fact that he was lying about the Son of God, if you only believe that He was a good and moral teacher. So yes, He's either who He says He is, or He must not have those morals that many praise Him for. I liked that CS Lewis said this, because I think he was calling for a rededication to their faith, and hoping to convince any who did view the Savior as merely a teacher, to look a little deeper and realize that He was in fact so much more.
