Well there was the fact that she was so happy about how much food there was to begin with.
What to Lady Saren was meager and horrible was to Dashti amazing and plentiful.
I think her life made her strong. I think her upbringing taught her resourcefulness. I believe her mother taught her loyalty and right.
The hard life she grew up in and the example her mother set for her made her able to endure privation and have strength.
