Favorite books are the Anne series and Emily series by L.M Montgomery, the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling, Timeline and Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton,just about everything by Shannon Hale (especially Goose Girl and Book of A Thousand Days), the Fablehaven series by Brandon Mull, the Eragon series by Christopher Paolini, the Hunger Games trilogy and Gregor series by Suzanne Collins, the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare, and Leviathan series by Scott Westerfeld. I add to my favorites list all the time!

I think he was always watching and knowing of what they were going through but knew that they needed to be resourceful and wise and learn by experience and not just depend on him for their protection and guidance.
They needed to learn to do for themselves and find their own potential. When you have someone with you who is more capable and more powerful you tend to look to them and lean on their abilities and never learn your own strength.
I agree. At first I was hoping he wouldn't leave and kept hoping he would show up again... But had he been there bilbo probably wouldn't have reached his potential because he wouldn't have had to.
