Aron loved Abra because she was a kind and beautiful person. But his image of Abra had to be perfection because that is what he wanted and didn't want to see that she was a normal and good person but with flaws, too.
Adam only wanted to see good in Katie (Cathy) and only saw beauty of her through his eyes. He didn't want to believe there was such cruelty, evil, and hate in her.Others saw it but he was "blinded" by his love for her. She also did a pretty good "act" to make him believe what he wanted to believe as she did with others such as Faye.
It reminds me of the innocence of first love. When you are a teenager and in that first real relationship and just sure that no one has EVER felt what you are feeling and NO ONE can tell you that it is not going to last forever because you wouldn’t hear them. Aron and Adam’s love for Cathy and Abra remind me of that state of innocence. You see what you want to see and create the relationship that fits in to the ideas about love that you have created.
Completely agree Julie! When people fall in love you can tell them warning signs about the person they are with but they just don't want to see it.
