How is Narnia decieved into thinking that Aslan has returned?

I found this part of the book very interesting.
The ape convinced the donkey to dress up as Aslan and it is interesting to see how so many fell for it.
They say you will know the truth by what it says. Evil cannot come from good and vice versa. And in this instance you see how they didn't stop to ask themselves if what the Ape was telling them to do matched up with what they knew of Aslan.
And in the donkey's case, here was someone that was used to deceive without even meaning to.

By deceit! It is dark and a bonfire is going. The Ape has the donkey wearing a "Lion Skin" and since those around can't get close enough to really see what is going on and with the lights and dark the Ape can get away with the deceit. It reminds me of the Biblical saying "A wolf in sheep's clothing".
