Mr. Craven

In your opinion, does Mr. Craven, after subjecting his son to years of neglect, deserve redemption?

Of course! Don't we all? Grief is a very difficult emotion. Mr. Craven was not a bad man, he just didn't deal with his grief in a healthy way. When he finally allows himself to feel alive again he is eager to be a better father. It is never too late to try harder.

I have a Dad who doesn't call and I could say I don't care but I do care...and my door is open if he changes his mind. We all deserve forgiveness (both extended and accepted).

I agree - if someone comes to you wanting to make things better or "right," then of course you need to give them that chance. Especially since we would all want another chance ourselves if we were in the same boat.

I think so too. He may not have been the best father- he was too overcome with his grief but I believe he was a good man inside and will be a great father now that he is opened back up to life.

Oh yes...of course! He is a good man but sadly neglected his son for two reasons I think. One, he is in such grief because of the death of his wife and she meant everything to him...not only for her love but that she loved him when others shunned him because of his hump. Two, I think he feels very guilty because he is fearful that his son will have his hump and he can't bear the thought that he is the cause of the suffering his son is going through and will go through and has to be away so he won't have to see that suffering every day.
