Why is Screwtape so pleased when the patient becomes friends with a group of people who are "rich, smart, superficially intellectual, and brightly skeptical about everything in the world"?
What influence does Screwtape hope they will have on him?

These people can be in a situation where they believe they know more than anyone including God and if the patient becomes involved with them he will become more like them and then be prideful and in a better position to be "seduced".
