At first they were trying to find an area in Watership Downs where burrows could be built for their homes and for protection and safety. It took some doing to get all the rabbits to be willing to help build and dig. Then there was the problem of having does to mate with as they had none at that point. They were able to procure some at great danger and then had to fight against General Woundwort and his army to save their burrow, their does, babies, and their lives.
